Grammie's Quilt

Here is another finish off my Christmas list.
The pattern is from The Schnibbles Take 2, and was made with Gypsy Rose layer cakes.
I just love how soft and lovely the colors are.
I hope she loves it.
It will keep her warm on those cold Colorado nights.

Gypsy Rose Schnibbles

I started my weekend planning on getting Shelley's baby quilt baisted. I got the backing pieces and taped to floor and got out my batting.  It was too small.  Doh!  Good thing I have a 40% off Joanne's coupon. I will have to stop there next week after work.

So I decided I could get my Making Friends Schnibbles basted and quilted since there was enough batting for it.  I got it baisted and started quilting it.  Suddenly I ran out of thread.  I guess I am going to have to stop at the LQS for some new thread.  So it is half done.

So I moved onto my next project.  This is why I really like having more then 1 project going on at a time.

I got Grammie's Gypsy Rose Schnibbles quilt quilted and the front binding on.  Tomorrow is Monday Night Football, a perfect time to attach the hand binding on the back.

Who's that Chicken?

Bee was a chicken at work for Holloween. We had to stop by and see her. She was shaking her tail feathers. She even did the chicken dance for me before we left.

I just love the way Grammie's quilt is turning out. I have it all basted and ready for quilting. I just love this Schnibbles pattern made with 2 Gypsy Rose Layer cakes. I will have to get it finished soon since it is a Christmas present.
Romor has it there is a new Schnibbles book coming out soon. I wonder what patterns will be in it. This is only my 2nd quilt from this book so I have a few more to make. They go together quickly and are so much fun and cute.

Christmas in August Sewing Party Done

I pieced the border and it was just so busy I didn't want to put it on. I looked around and found this Christmasy red and am really happy with it. Now I just need to get it quilted before Christmas so it can be hung up this season.

This was a win/win. I really enjoyed the Charming Girl's sewing party, it kept me motivated yesterday. Today it was harder to get the motivation to finish it up, but I powered through and it was so worth it. Can't wait for the next sewing party. Plus this is now another empty tote!

Christmas in August Sewing Party update

I should have known when I started to match up my charm squares and got one that looked like this that today may just be a bit more challenging than normal.
I sure would hate to be the person that got the other charm square with the missing part.
Since Bee has been working on her Harry Potter blocks her machine was set up in the place where I normally sew. Being a bit lazy I used her machine rather them mine. As Julia Roberts in Pretty woman says "Big mistake, huge mistake." Needless to say the 1/4 seam that I thought I was sewing wasn't really a 1/4 seam. These are 4 1/4 inch blocks and it made all my claws for my blocks have bad points. Sitting her and looking at those points for a few minutes I knew I had rip and sew these block an extra time. Now that it is done I am so happy I did it. I will try and finish this top tomorrow.
I can't wait to stop in on everybody's blogs tomorrow and see what you have all been up to today

Christmas in August Sewing Party

Today is the Charming Girls Christmas in August Sewing Party.

Xmas in august

I have my fabric all cut and plan on working on my "Nice Day for Making New Friends" That is a Schnibbles pattern called Nice Day using Making New Friends Charm packs.

Bee has some school items she needs to shop for so I will be taking a little break to join her on a little shoppping trip. Shopping for school supplies with a Culinary student sounds like a fun. Shopping of school supplies with a culinar student that is Bee sounds even better!

I can't wait to see what everybody is working on!

Hedwig's Quilt & a sleepy TJ

Few months ago I had started quilting on My Quilt and Needle March 2009 Mystery quilt when I decided that it was just too big to be quilted on my machine. So today I finally started to pull out the quilting so I can just send it out to be quilted. When I left the chair to take a break look what happened!
Why did I decide to take the quilting out today? Welp, my trusty Brother sewing machine has been skipping stitches whenever I applique. It has finaly annoyed me so much that I dropped it off at the SewPros. They told me it will be about a week before I get a quote then another week for the repair. My machine is an inexpensive Brother CS6000I that I have loved and used everyday since I got it a year and a half ago. I don't know if it will be cheaper to get it working right or cheaper to buy a new one. Jeff tells me that I am like an addict counting the days I have been without my Brother. After we dropped it off we found a machine that looks just like mine but has an alphabet font at Costco for $149.00.

I did manage to get Hedwig's Quilt top completed before sending off the machine. It is really cute and just the right size for him. I will get it basted and ready for quilting.

Cabbage Rose 30's 2nd Saturday Block #2

Here is my April Cabbage Rose 30's Mystery Bom. I really love the way it is turning out, I can't wait to see what the May block looks like.

DD Bee is thinking that it isn't fair that TJ has his own quilt. She found these RJR Pungkin Peers Charm squares in my stash and asked me to make Hedwig a holloween quilt. The irony of this is that Hedwig is a pure white kitty so he is like an anti-Holloween cat. Holloween is Bee's favorite holiday & Wiggers does where his holloween collar year round so why not a Holloween quilt during springtime. Yes Hedwig is named after a different white animal, Harry Potter's Owl. I really liked The State Fair Schnibbles and figured that was the perfect pattern for Hedwig's quilt. I hope to get it completed this weekend and will post a picture as soon as it is completed.
