A finish!

I am super happy with this twister quilt.
I used a layer cake of
Aneela Hoey's A Walk in the Woods.
(purchased with a Joann's 50% coupon)
Finished the month after the baby was born.
Not too bad.

I saw a tutorial for a raw edge binding a few months ago.
However I can't remember where I saw it and google wasn't much help.
I had to do if from guess and memory.
That and not give the proper credit.

I cut 3 1/4 inch strips
folded in half for double sided binding.
Attached to the back as I would normally attach to the front.
(this is all the same as I normally would do my binding)
Folded it over and pinned the fabric down.
Clipped the raw edge as I would a rag quilt.
Washed and dried.
Love it!
However I am going to test with wider strips next time.

Stash Report #17

This has been a fun week.  I finished a dress for my niece.  I also quilted a baby quilt and have another one on my machine.  I hope to get them both finished next week.  That would really help my numbers move in the right direction.

This week

Out
-1.5 yards out - Dress for Olivia
In
0 - Nothing - Whoohoo!  Moving the correct way.

Princess Sew Along Rapunzel

Thanks Angela of Cut to Pieces!
She designed such a cute Rapunzel.
I am hoping to use stash for all these dresses.
This one I needed to purchase the strip fabric.

 I started cutting last night
and finished it today.
Over all I am happy with how it turned out.

Now I just need to find a box
and get it and the book in the mail.

Stop by the Flickr group to see all the pretty dresses.
I can't wait to see the next dress.

Stash Report #16

I missed posting my stash report last week so this is 2 reports in one.

Last week I realized that I wanted to add a little more grey to my tumbler quilt that I am making from my FQS mystery scraps.  So I picked up the strip fabric for the binding and the grey to be cut into tumblers.  I think the rest of that grey will make a good binding fabric for a baby quilt I hope to finish this week.  The newest BOM for the FQS mystery BOM arrived.  It is so fun to get that each month.

I placed an order from fabric.com for a purple strip fabric to use for the sleeves of the next Princess dress (Rapunzel).  While I was there I ordered a few yards of some basics that where on sale.  I don't see the purple strip fabric at all.  What I do see is a cat in the hat fabric.  They where really nice and are letting me keep the Cat in the hat fabric and the correct fabric should be here Monday.

I spent Friday working on a dress for myself.  Since is it isn't finished it doesn't count as out yet.  I also basted 3 quilts that will help bring my numbers down once they are quilted and bound.  This week better be a getting things finished kind of week.

+ 2 yards - 2 1 yard cuts of Modern Vintage
+ .5 yards - FQS BOM
+ 5 yards - 5 1 yard of basics
+ .5 yards - Cat in the Hat fabric sent to me by mistake.
