FQS Mystery BOM 2011

I took my scraps from the monthly blocks

and made a piano key border.

Maybe it is too busy.

Should I purchase just a solid color for the border?

If so what color would you recommend?

Maybe my summer sewing slump has come to an end.

I spent a little time in my sewing room over the last 2 days.

This is the last block in the FQS 2011 block.

I have the first 2 blocks for the new BOM but hadn't even finished last years.

I have the sashing fabric on order and will get these sashed once it arrives.

Finished My March Fat Quarter Shop BOM block.

The next one should be here any day.

BOMs are so much fun.

However sometimes they are just so pricey I can't bring myself to join.

But $11 a month delivered to my house with no special trip to the LQS

you can't go wrong.

Besides how cute are these blocks?

I guess I am sounding like an ad.

Fat Quarter Mystery BOM 2011

There are a few things changing next week

that are going to find me with more time in my sewing room.

First we will be springing forward.

My sewing room has wonderful sunlight.

However when the sun goes down my lack of good electrical lighting causes me to call it a night.

(I have looked at a few lighting options but nothing really seems like what I want)

TJ really likes this since he gets alot more petting when I am in the living room.

So the time change means an extra hour of sewing time.

Whoo Hoo!

Secondly Jeff starts a brand new job on Monday.

I am so excited for him!

His old job had him working 4 day a week.

When Jeff is home we find alot of fun things to do together.

That really cuts into my sewing time.

(Not that I am complaining)

He will be home for dinner each evening.

Did I mention that Jeff loves to cook, and well me not so much.

Whoo Hoo!

The moral of this long story is that I think there will be alot more sharing on this blog.

I don't think I have mentioned that there are going to be a wedding in my future.

My DD Bee & Sam will be getting married in September.

It will be on a San Diego Harbor cruise.

It is going to be so romantic.

All the planning is going smoothly.

My favorite part so far was wedding dress shopping.

I am so blessed to have such a wonderful daughter,

and that she is giving me such a perfect son-in-law.

Speaking of sharing,

I was just about to be 3 months behind on my Fat Quarter Shop 2011 BOM.

But alas I have finished the 2 previous blocks before this month's showed up.

I even signed up for the next round.

I have really enjoyed these blocks and will have to figure out how I am going to finish this quilt

since I missed buying the finishing kit.

The nice thing is the block kits are cut so generous

I bet there are enough scraps to finish the top.

Fat Quarter Mystery BOM 2011

I guess I have fallen behind on the Fat Quarter Shop Mystery BOM.

A new one arrive in the mail over the weekend & this one wasn't done.



So this is the Novermber block.

I will have to get on the December block before January arrives.

FQS Mystery BOM 2011

 I am now caught up on my FQS Mystery BOM.

I am not sure what is up with the colors it is much cuter then the picture shows.

I enjoyed the last FQS Mystery that I did so much I decided to jump in this year.

I have been seeing these block all over and finally got mine made.

I wish I would have did snowball corners on the in inner yellow center to make it a little

more round.

However I though of it after it was all together, but don't care enough to rip it all out.

Have you seen the stem that Carol put on her's?

I am so loving this idea and think I will try and come up with my own version.
