Sewing day with Bee

Today I got to spend the day sewing with Bee.
What a treat!
Here she is binding a Halloween quilt for herself.
and 1 layer cake.

I pieced the backing for my hopscotch quilt.
It was made with an "Oh my Dog" Jelly roll.
Together we spray basted it.
This is a UFO that has been hanging around.
 Always love an empty tote.

All the backing fabric was from my stash.
It is a good job keeping to my - use from stash first commitment.

Advent Calender

I wanted to make Bee a Advent Calender.
Those are little pockets to fill with candy treats.
I modified this Moda Bakc Shop tutorial.
The original says Merry Christmas.
I may or may not add differnt words.
Good thing she doesn't read my blog.

I picked Pure.
And together we are using this Moda Bake Shop tutorial.

Here is my first block.

Here is Hellen's.
It looks wonderful!
Her homework will be getting 8 more blocks completed.
Next we will sash them.

Lollipop Baby Boy

I finished a Baby Boy Quilt top

It used a Lollipop Layer Cake with the flower pieces removed.
It was made with just a Layer Cake and this Moda Bake Shop Tutorial.
I am not sure if you can tell but I really love The Moda Bake Shop.

And yes our grass is in need of a mowing.

Round Robin

Jeff's schedule has changed
and it has really gotten me off my game.
It is wonderful that I get to see him more.
The side effect is that
I have less time to spend sewing and posting to my blog.

Today I realized that I never shared my completed
2010 Round Robin from The Quilt and Needle.

The ladies did a wonderful job on this one.
I just love it so much
& can't wait to get it quilted.
I can't thank them enough for this lovely top!

I am signed up for this year's Row Robin but haven't received a row to work on yet.

I also finished the Max and Wisker's top for Bee.
I say it is for Bee but I think that Sam he DBF is going to love this one.
He is a tall guy and this quilt finished at 100 inches long,
perfect for a 6+ foot boy to snuggle under.

Tutorial for this quilt can be found at the Moda Bake Shop
I am hoping to get this one off to the quilter next week.

It is much cuter in person than it looks in the picture.
Jeff's sister's baby is due any day, So I think
it got done just in time.
Once I have a name I will put a label on it and get it in the mail.

Shelley's Baby Quilt - take 2

I was working on 1 quilt for Jeff's sister Shelley's new baby and I just wasn't feeling it so I set those blocks aside and started a new quilt.
This is a Moda Bake Shop Quilt from a Love U Jelly Roll.  I am hoping to get it pieced this weekend.  We are on baby patrol since she is due in the next 2 weeks.

Fresh Squeezed Folded Star Quilt

I finished the quilt top for this Moda Bake Shop Tutorial using a Moda Fresh Squeezed Layer Cake. Bee folded all the stars for me. You can't really see the folded stars very well in the picture but they are there. This is the first finish for my Charming Girl's club for September/October. I am so in love with Fresh Squeezed, I have bought a bunch of it to last me of awhile.
Yesterday was the 2nd Saturday so I got my next block on order for The Cabbage Rose 2nd Saturday 30's block of the month. I realized that I hadn't finished last months block. Now I am ready for September's block.

Baby Quilt & Quilt for Kids

I have 3 finishes! It is such an exciting day for me. Here is the Quilt for my Friend Lizz's 2nd Grandson. It was made with this Moda Bake Shop Tutorial. I used Animal Alphabet my Moda. I just love how cute it is and how quick it went together. I just might make another one for Shelley's 1st baby. (Shelley is Jeff's sister) We will find out in August if it is a boy or a girl. Either would be great, although I just love little girls.
I finished a pair of Quilt for Kids tops. I found this video tutorial and had 2 Snippets turnovers. Maybe they will find happy homes with kids that will love them.I finished my first set for the Freckled Whimsy Charm Pack Along. 150 half Triangles squared up was a bit of a project. I think they turned out cute. This might just turn into my Quilt Of Victory I have promised myself I would make this year.

My New Purse & Siggy Blocks Received

Whoo Hoo - I get to mark off something on my July/August Charming Girl's Club list. I made Bee & Me both bags using Moda Objects of Desire fabric and this Moda Bake Shop Tutorial. Hers is a little smaller then mine & has the shoe fabric since she love shoes. Here is the link to Bee's bag. I think Bee is going to make a pillow with all my leftovers from this project.
Today I received my Siggy Blocks from the Jaybird Quilts siggy swap. I have an idea what I am going to do with them. They will have to get in line behind all my other projects. Thanks Julie for doing this swap. I can't even imagine how you would stay orginized enough to swap all those blocks. Bee and I sat down and looked at all the cool places that we received blocks from. What a fun quilt this will be.

Bee's Bag

We have a little skunk that has just move out and gotten it's own place. He has move in under our shed. It was kinda cute when I woke up early Sunday morning to find him drinking out of TJ's outdoor water dish. It was even cute when TJ realized he is living under the shed and told Little Pepe who's place this really was. That was the end of the cute as the skunk answered back with the foul smell that I can only take to mean he thinks it is his place now. So last night we mixed up the "Magic Skunk Smell Removal Mixture" (1 new 32 oz bottle of peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda and a squirt of dish soap - coat the dog well and wait 10 minutes). No more skunk smell and a super clean TJ. If you try it be sure to keep it off the face since it is a harsh mixture. This is our second skunk adventure. Our first one was at about 3am on Thanksgiving morning. Jeff must have looked like a crazy man out that morning buying the fixings of the "Magic Skunk Smell Removal Mixture." We now keep all the fixing in the house just in case it is need. (Thanks Bee for the cool graphic!)

I finished Bee's bag of the Me & Bee bags I am working on. It is this Moda Bake Shop Tutorial. Mine is going to be the same fabric Moda Objects of desire honey bun and different yardage. I would have gotten it done but the kids where home and we all decide it was a perfect afternoon for a game of Canasta. (Sam & I are the current household champs)

Lizz's Newest Grandson's Quilt Top

I finished the quilt top for Lizz's grandson. It was made using a Moda Animal Alphabet Charm pack and this Moda Bake Shop Tutorial. I have been wanting to make this top.
Jeff's sister is pregnant with her first child, I might have a reason to make another one. There is a different pattern I want to make for here baby but a baby can't have too many quilts can they? We should know in 6-8 weeks if it is a girl or a boy. Then I can pick out the colors.

We have started our conditioning for the 1/2 marathon this week. I will not bore you with the details only that it is letting TJ learn a new word this week "run." He knows "walk" but run is all new to him.

Moda Bake Shop Folded Star Quilt

After much effort on my part. Unsucessfull effort I might add. Bee helped me figure out how to fold the Origami Star for the Piece of Cake Folded Star Quilt. Helped me figure out is a stretch, she did them ALL for me. Sam was nice enough to film her folding so I could share with anybody else that is have the same troubles as I was having. Let me know if this is helpful for you.
