A few Good Blocks

Just as a new Block gets posted for the
Layer Cake Along
I got my #8 block done.

The next block has alot of options,
I will have to spend a little time thinking about which one I will do.

This is the 12th block of
The Cabbage Rose 2nd Saturday 30's block.
They are selling the setting kit,
however I think busting stash would be better.
The Quilt and Needle had a 30's Layer Cake swap last year
Those layer cake pieces will work well
with some White fabric for setting these blocks.

Cabbage Rose 30's block

It has been a slow sewing week for me.
I have been working on this block for the last 3 days.
Each time I sat down to start sewing something would call me away.
Today I got some solid sewing time and finished it.
This is the #11 block of The Cabbage Rose Quilting
30's 2nd Saturday BOM.
I have really enjoyed it and will be sad to see it end.

I don't know how many yards are in the finishing kit but it should be added to my stash report next Sunday.

I have finally caught up on my blocks for the Cabbage Rose 2nd Saturday
30's version

Block #8

 Block #9

Block #10
(I really don't like this block!)
It is amazing how quickly the first 10 months
of this BOM have gone by.

Happy Jacks

Kim at Kim's Big Quilting Adventure posted directions for making a super cute pumpkin quilt she named Happy Jacks. My 9 pumpkins are all made, they just need their little faces carved. Bee is going to design them for them. Kim "carved" her pumpkins during quilting, I am going to do mine before the shashing is done.

Finished my 7th block for The Cabbage Rose 2nd Saturday BOM. I think I am going to love this quilt.

Fresh Squeezed Folded Star Quilt

I finished the quilt top for this Moda Bake Shop Tutorial using a Moda Fresh Squeezed Layer Cake. Bee folded all the stars for me. You can't really see the folded stars very well in the picture but they are there. This is the first finish for my Charming Girl's club for September/October. I am so in love with Fresh Squeezed, I have bought a bunch of it to last me of awhile.
Yesterday was the 2nd Saturday so I got my next block on order for The Cabbage Rose 2nd Saturday 30's block of the month. I realized that I hadn't finished last months block. Now I am ready for September's block.

Cabbage Rose 30's 2nd Saturday

We went the Padre game on Thursday. It was so much fun. I have never been to a Padre vs Dodgers game. There is a huge revialry and there are always alot of Dodger fans that make the trip town to support their team. This time they came down to see the Padres Win! We have at least 1 more game that we are going to this year.
This time we sat on the other side of the ballpark. This is looking at the convention center right from the ballpark. What an amazing view from every part of Petco Park.

Here is my July 2nd Saturday block from The Cabbage Rose Quilt Shop. This is going to be such a cute quilt.

1st TJ-iversary

Today is 1 year that TJ has been with us! He has brought us so much love and companionship. We adopted him through a rescue group. The 2 of us went over to thank the ladies and let them know just how much he has grown and improved over the past year. When we got him he was unable to bend his back legs, causing him to have a funny walk. He was unable to sit so he would either stand or just flop over and lay down. He was so skinny and couldn't walk very far. Now he takes us for our nightly walks. He can sit, jump, and has gained 5 pounds. You can't tell in this picture but he also has no tail. I don't know what happened to it but it is gone, not cropped, just gone! Here is to many more years to come.
I also finished my next Cabbage Rose 2nd Saturday 30's block. This one is my favorite!

Where Do you Sew?

Today is such a Winnie the Pooh kind of day, all cold and windy, that we started our day with Jeff making me a fire. As I was working on the applique for my As The Geese Fly quilt I decide I should share a picture of my sewing space. I just love to see where everybody makes their fabric magic happen. I started off using the little spare bedroom as my sewing room. It has a wonderful window. Most evenings hot air balloons take off from Del Mar and fly right over my neighbors roof and that window has the perfect view of them. I have seen up to 7 in the sky at one time! I just love to watch them. But this social girl just got too lonely in there all by myself and one day I set the sewing machine up out in our "La Fonda" room and my new sewing area was born.

Why a "La Fonda" Room? Yes that is a strange name for a room. Jeff and I found the most wonderful hotel in Mexico called La Fonda. We stayed in a rustic brick cabana that had a cozy fireplace. Every room had a fireplace. We decided that we could have our own "La Fonda." At the restaurant there was a rooster strutting around that was just so charming. When we waited in line to cross the border we found a guy selling ceramic roosters. We purchased our own La Fonda rooster to watch over our "La Fonda" room. You can see him standing just to the left out the fireplace.

Completed my May 2nd Saturday 30's Block from Cabbage Rose. I messed up cutting by cross fabrics so Bee and I looked into my stash and found a workable substitute. Welp I am off to try and finish quiling Jeff's purple quilt. I hope to get it quilted and bound this week! We shall see.

Cabbage Rose 30's 2nd Saturday Block #2

Here is my April Cabbage Rose 30's Mystery Bom. I really love the way it is turning out, I can't wait to see what the May block looks like.

DD Bee is thinking that it isn't fair that TJ has his own quilt. She found these RJR Pungkin Peers Charm squares in my stash and asked me to make Hedwig a holloween quilt. The irony of this is that Hedwig is a pure white kitty so he is like an anti-Holloween cat. Holloween is Bee's favorite holiday & Wiggers does where his holloween collar year round so why not a Holloween quilt during springtime. Yes Hedwig is named after a different white animal, Harry Potter's Owl. I really liked The State Fair Schnibbles and figured that was the perfect pattern for Hedwig's quilt. I hope to get it completed this weekend and will post a picture as soon as it is completed.

Cabbage Rose 30's 2nd Saturday

The Cabbage Rose Quilt shop is having a 2nd Saturday BOM. They had 2 options the 30's or a Civil War reproduction. I just love the 30's repo fabrics so even though I am over commited on BOMs I decided what can 1 more hurt? (I will not mention the other BOM Lovebird Lane that starts this month should be arriving anyday). After paying the sign up fee each block is free with no shipping if you order on the 2nd Saturday of the month. I ordered my April Block and should be getting it any day.
